When it comes to climate (etc.), is Europe more anchor to the U.S. than ally?

From CFACT

By Joe Bastardi

The answer appears to be more of an anchor weighing our progress down.

And of course, in other matters outside of climate, you may also think they are more anchor than ally.

Assuming we are an “ally,” one has to wonder how long we can be allies with people who are fools and are committing suicide by climate policy. (Again, you may think it’s only one of other policies leading to their downfall.)

But I will keep this short.

The HDD season is about over in Europe.

Look where Europe’s natural gas storage is today:

This is hard to believe. The Netherlands and Sweden are under 10%. Almost everyone is under 50%. Poland, which actually had a chilly winter, is higher than areas that had a warm winter. That’s right, for much of Europe, the HDD season was warm.

France’s winter was warmer than normal, and they are down to 21%.

What would have happened if we had a winter like 2017-2018?

Or the back-to-back winters of 2009-2010, 2010-2011?

Here’s a warning shot with the big El Niño coming up. This is the winter of 86-87, which was a pretty strong El Niño.

So if a warm winter took us to the brink, what would have happened if it were cold?

This exposes the lunacy of European climate policies. I’m not going to go over every lunatic fringe policy that has been enacted, but you have to be completely oblivious to what the weather is truly capable of to adopt policies like these.

In a way, it’s similar to how the Iranian theological rulers hold their population hostage to their ideology. Every winter, unless Europeans reverse course and quit fighting this phony climate war, they are held hostage to the weather — because their leaders have turned man-made climate change into something resembling a religion. It’s the people who will suffer, and I don’t think their leaders care.

But then again, how do they keep getting elected? (Obviously not the case in Iran.) The public has been brainwashed.

This winter should serve as a wake-up call to any rational human being concerned about elevating their society. Notice Poland again: Its leaders are not the fools who seem to be running so many other countries. Poland is naturally colder than France, and it experienced a colder winter. Yet, it ended up with more than twice the natural gas storage as France.

It’s just a matter of time. The real disaster is not the climate itself — it’s climate policy. And the only human-induced problem here stems from a lunatic fringe that believes it can control the weather and the climate.

Notes and asides:

I don’t know the reason, despite trying to get answers, but the Physical Science Lab is no longer conducting reanalysis.

Data Notice: NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis 1 has stopped production with its last date March 17, 2025.

I fear this is due to budget cuts, and if so, it’s part of what concerns me: that valuable data and research sources are becoming collateral damage in the effort to end the climate lunacy that NOAA has been obsessed with. What may have happened — and I know this as a fact from people in research — is that instead of using a surgeon’s precise tool, a blunt hammer was swung. The source of the cuts was NOAA’s obsession with climate, but the pendulum correcting that may have swung too far the other way.

A critical site that I use to analyze patterns and combat climate lunacy has been shut down. I’m hoping that if I run into some higher-ups in the administration at the upcoming CFACT/Heartland climate conference, I can make them aware of this and explain how valuable it is.

In their defense, I got sent to this site:

But here is what I get if I try to use it

Unless you forecast the weather on a global scale every day — especially if you’re someone who is fed up with climate lunacy, as I am — I don’t think you can fully see what is and isn’t valuable. So, since CFACT is kind enough to give me a voice, I wanted to show people that a valuable tool to combat climate craziness has been taken down (and is no longer updating). I suspect the intent was good, but the result is not.
