years, we have covered the smoke emanating from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/legalinsurrection.com\/2023\/06\/massive-canadian-wildfires-engulfing-u-s-east-coast-in-haze-were-sparked-by-environmental-activism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blazes in Canada\u2019s mismanaged forests<\/a>. Furthermore, a number of the fires were investigated for&nbsp;potential<a href=\"https:\/\/legalinsurrection.com\/2023\/06\/massive-canadian-wildfires-engulfing-u-s-east-coast-in-haze-were-sparked-by-environmental-activism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;arson<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, over 800 wildfires are being reported across Canada, with smoke affecting&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/US\/canadian-wildfire-smoke-descends-us-spreading-great-lakes\/story?id=134774391\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">air quality in New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 830&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/US\/wildfire-smoke-worsen-us-putting-125-million-risk\/story?id=107161231\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wildfires<\/a>&nbsp;were burning in Canada on Wednesday, along with more than a dozen in northern Minnesota, forcing mandatory evacuations and spreading unhealthy smoke down to the Lower 48.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the largest wildfires are burning in west-central Ontario, consuming thick forests and releasing an incredible amount of smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wind is now directing that smoke into the U.S., creating dangerous air quality for millions across the upper Midwest and Northeast on Wednesday and through the end of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday afternoon, air quality had reached unhealthy levels in New York City and the Eastern Lake Ontario region, the Central New York region and parts of Western New York, according to air monitoring site&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.airnow.gov\/state\/?name=new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AirNow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-x\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">There are currently 838 wildfires burning across Canada. In northeastern Minnesota,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pca.state.mn.us\/news-and-stories\/air-quality-alert-issued-due-to-wildfire-smoke-for-tuesday-july-14-through-thursday-july-16-for\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the state\u2019s pollution control agency<\/a>&nbsp;said that the air quality would likely remain \u201cvery unhealthy for everyone\u201d through Thursday. Just across the border in southern Ontario, Environment Canada issued an orange-level alert on Tuesday for air quality and urged people to avoid spending time outside.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-x\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Smell smoke this morning? A crew member can be seen also capturing the incident on their cellphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The train car was stopped in Armstrong, Ont., which is north of Thunder Bay. A CN Rail spokesperson told Global News all employees in the area were evacuated overnight Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCN has temporarily suspended rail operations near Armstrong, ON as a precaution due to wildfire activity in the area.
