something along the lines of, \u201cBut experts say\u2026,\u201d followed by high-minded, eggheaded lecture from a so-called expert on the left ridiculing Trump for his failure to follow their established institutional pattern of thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just a few examples of the media\u2019s devotion to the \u201cexpertocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cExperts on Russia say Donald Trump is wrong about the war in Ukraine\u201d \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stuartanderson\/2025\/04\/27\/experts-on-russia-say-donald-trump-is-wrong-about-the-war-in-ukraine\/\">Forbes.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cWe asked 50 legal experts about the Trump presidency\u201d \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/10\/06\/magazine\/legal-experts-trump-justice-department.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=fb-nytimes\">New York Times.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cExperts urge caution on Trump call for Hormuz deployment\u201d \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/World-News\/2026\/03\/16\/Experts-urge-caution-on-Trump-call-for-Hormuz-deployment\/8621773633214\/\">UPI.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, the far-left media gets upset about the Trump administration\u2019s cavalier attitude toward \u201cexperts.\u201d Last August, NPR did a segment on \u201cHow a distrust of experts is shaping policy under Trump,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/08\/08\/nx-s1-5494569\/how-a-distrust-of-experts-is-shaping-government-policy-under-trump\">basically complaining<\/a>&nbsp;that administration officials like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. feed into the growing lack of societal respect for experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The game played by the media actually has a name \u2013 it\u2019s the \u201cappeal to authority\u201d tactic, a blatant effort to discredit or disparage a political idea by describing it as reckless, feckless or just plain academically or scientifically incorrect. The result of such an exercise is to downplay or discredit outside-the-box thought and political ingenuity by predicting failure in advance \u2013 predictions from the mouths of specialists who are awarded God-like authority by liberal news outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nowhere is the \u201cappeal to authority\u201d more aggressively employed than on the subject of climate change. Anyone who does not buy hook, line and sinker into the manmade climate change doctrine is greeted with the usual far-left media response \u2013 a recounting of the \u201cscientific consensus\u201d on climate change, a rehashing of miniscule temperature changes in the last 30 years, topped off by a roundup of the top 20 polluters among the fossil fuel corporations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, the media\u2019s favorite trick is to make a bee line to its favorite \u201cexperts\u201d on the far left of the political spectrum \u2014 most commonly including Ivy League professors and former Obama administration officials, those guaranteed to say the opposite of whatever Trump said, even before they are forced to hear what he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But despite a plethora of former officials from Democratic administrations in their hip pockets and a virtual lock on the world of academia, the left still finds it necessary to create out of whole cloth yet another set of \u201cexperts\u201d for the purpose of influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last August, after reading about it on a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/cbs-news-leans-reporting-produced-outside-climate-change-group\">Fox News report,<\/a>&nbsp;I wrote<a href=\"https:\/\/empoweringamerica.org\/beware-how-the-climate-crusade-partners-with-the-media-and-educates-the-courts\/\">&nbsp;a column<\/a>&nbsp;about the fact that \u201cCBS News has of late been partnering with Climate Central, a nonprofit that bills itself as \u2018policy-neutral\u2019 and \u2018independent,\u2019 but acknowledges on its own website that it \u2018uses science, big data, and technology to generate thousands of local storylines and compelling visuals that make climate change personal and show what can be done about it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance, at the close of a CBS story on climate change, the credit read, \u201cStory produced by Chris Spinder, in partnership with Climate Central. Editor: Chris Jolly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also noted, \u201cWhile&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatecentral.org\/partnership-journalism\">its guidelines&nbsp;<\/a>claim that its \u2018partners\u2019 make \u2018most final editorial decisions,\u2019 Climate Central adds that \u2018we\u2026 insist upon scientific accuracy and context. If we can\u2019t reach agreement on the science in a story, we agree in advance that we will halt the project.\u2019 CBS News agreed to that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hopefully, the new leadership at CBS News has discontinued such partnerships and has cast a wider net for those with expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that same column, I referenced a story&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/climate-activists-are-influencing-judges-to-rule-in-their-favor-using-this-educational-program\/?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=breaking&amp;utm_campaign=newstrack&amp;utm_term=41437681\">by National Review<\/a>&nbsp;on an \u201ceducational\u201d program aiming to \u201cmake available to federal, state, and local judges the basic science they need to adjudicate the climate litigation over which they preside\u201d and, of course, side more often with climate activists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this month,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/climate-activists-seek-to-influence-judges-on-big-oil-litigation-through-taxpayer-funded-reference-manual\/\">National Review followed up<\/a>&nbsp;by noting that the group \u2013 the Federal Judicial Center \u2013 is \u201ca taxpayer-funded nonprofit created by Congress,\u201d billing itself as \u201cneutral.\u201d And yet, \u201cits most recent edition featured a politically-biased \u2018climate science\u2019 section that relied on research from radical left-leaning actors to persuade judges to rule in favor of progressive plaintiffs in climate change cases.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chapter on climate science brought howls of protests from numerous state attorneys general, who had urged the omission of the section. Instead, according to a source cited by NR, \u201can FJC representative suggested a quiet release of the fourth edition of the manual, specifically because of the climate science chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moral of the story is that consumers need to constantly question, a, the gravitas afforded to \u201cexperts\u201d as it relates to political initiatives, b, the criteria used by the media in the selection of it preferred experts and, c, the motives of the experts themselves. No one is completely void of bias, a completely neutral arbiter. No one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is important to recognize established facts, although fewer facts are firmly established than some would suggest. But disagreeing with the opinions of experts has led to countless great achievements, discoveries and revelations throughout history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experts predict outcomes based on past patterns.
