class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/notrickszone.com\/author\/kenneth-richard\/\">Kenneth Richard<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solway Firth (UK) relative sea levels were 3.25 \u2013 4 m higher than today from ~7000 to 5500 years ago before declining to present over the last few millennia (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1002\/jqs.70052\">Hanan et al., 2026<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reconstruction coring sites were located up to ~3 km inland from the modern coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New research also indicates Western Scotland\u2019s relative sea levels were 4 to 5 m above present during the Mid-Holocene before declining to modern levels (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1002\/jqs.70049\">Selby et al., 2026<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
