Rooftop solar? Those big companies (like Sunnova<\/a>) have gone bankrupt and left customers with long-term contracts they do not like. It is a litigation paradise.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Wood<\/a>: \u201cLogical fallacy here. One company\u2019s bankruptcy doesn\u2019t damn a whole technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bradley<\/a>: \u201cSunnova was the biggest. But okay, let\u2019s continue with some of the rest. [I listed around 100 firms on the solar bankruptcy list.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wood<\/a>: \u201cRob Bradley, 50 clothing stores went bankrupt in the US last year. By your logic, this makes clothes a bad thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bradley<\/a><\/strong>: \u201cFallacious. Can you document how many solar companies went under as far as the total population? And unlike clothing stores, solar is a government\/taxpayer play. We need clothes but not solar.
Yes, the rooftop solar industry is in serious decline<\/a>. If you have a link to argue oppositely, please provide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elisa Wood went silent, as she has no argument to make, evidently. She just \u2018did her job\u2019 as best as she could in a \u2018say it to help make it true\u2019 postmodern world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this point a Mike Robinson commented<\/a> with what should be the last word:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which came after his comment<\/a> on the real economics of rooftop solar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no \u201cnew direction\u201d offered in this article. Just the same old buzzwords: \u201creimagine\u201d, distributed energy\u201d, and \u201cno subsidies needed because it\u2019s so cheap\u201d.

The simple fact is that \u201crooftop solar\u201d only is economically viable when the State steps in and makes the Distributor pay \u201cretail\u201d for mid-day solar \u201csurpluses\u201d. This practice is being phased out in many areas because it\u2019s a loser on every level for anyone who doesn\u2019t have rooftop solar. That means that the people that were inclined to do it, have already done it. This is a dead end market right now.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
