Well, it looks like that ice just cracked wide open. According to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2025\/10\/michael-mann-finally-goes-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gleeful piece in the National Review titled \u201cMichael Mann Finally Goes Away<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2025\/10\/michael-mann-finally-goes-away\/\">,\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;Mann has dropped his long-running defamation lawsuit against them after a whopping 12 years of legal clownery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s right: the guy who threatened to \u201cdestroy\u201d them is now slinking off into the sunset, tail between his legs, while their blog post calling his research \u201csketchy\u201d and \u201cintellectually bogus\u201d remains proudly online for all to see. But wait, there\u2019s more! In true Mann fashion, he\u2019s probably out there right now insisting he\u2019s the victor, even as reality nibbles away at his relevance like a hungry squirrel on a\u2026 well, corn cob. Which brings us to the perfect meme for this moment. Sound familiar, Dr. Mann?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Picture it: Mann, fresh off losing his case (despite a temporary jury win against Mark Steyn and Rand Simberg that\u2019s already crumbling under appeal), simmers while the National Review editors pop the champagne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They even thank their lawyers and supporters, noting how the First Amendment proved too \u201cinconvenient\u201d for Mr. Hockey Stick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And let\u2019s not forget the article\u2019s zinger: Mann and his alarmist crew are \u201closing the climate debate,\u201d as evidenced by his recent whinging about Bill Gates daring to inject some common sense into the conversation. Ouch. That\u2019s gotta sting worse than a polar vortex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just yesterday,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wattsupwiththat.com\/2025\/11\/01\/gloom-despair-and-agony-on-me\/#comment-4126984\">we ran a piece titled \u201cGloom, Despair, and Agony on Me,\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;absolutely roasting the 2025 BioScience special report \u2013 \u201cThe State of the Climate: A Planet on the Brink\u201d \u2013 for its over-the-top doomsaying. (Note: One of the co-authors? None other than Michael Mann himself. &nbsp;Mann\u2019s involvement? It\u2019s like he\u2019s the lead singer in that despair choir, belting out tunes about economic \u201cpost-growth\u201d models and blaming the \u201cwealthiest 10 percent\u201d for everything short of bad hair days. Now, with his lawsuit in the dustbin, Mann\u2019s descent into irrelevance is complete. He\u2019s not just owned \u2013 he\u2019s corncobbed. As&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/dril\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@dril<\/a>&nbsp;so prophetically put it, he\u2019s shrinking smaller by the day, insisting he\u2019s still the big cheese in climate town while the world moves on. The National Review sums it up best:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u201cAs for Michael Mann, he\u2019s belatedly taken our very good advice from so many years ago and gotten lost.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hey, Mike \u2013 if you\u2019re reading this (and we know you are), maybe it\u2019s time to embrace your inner corn cob. Pop some butter on, sit back, and watch the real climate debate thrive without your lawsuits and hysteria. After all, in the words of the meme: \u201cim not owned!!\u201d Sure, buddy.
