The \u00a333m aid project was designed to help poor Ugandan farmers deal with the impact of climate change.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the reality saw their crops and homes destroyed in an \u201cinhuman\u201d project that left them \u201con the brink of starvation\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local government officials, who were guarded by armed security forces, razed crops, trees and homes as they claimed to be re-wilding wetland in a project run by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which has received \u00a32.6bn in UK taxpayers\u2019 money.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is one of a number of controversial projects uncovered in a seven-month investigation by The Telegraph into how the Government is spending \u00a311.6bn in International Climate Finance (ICF).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile Ugandan farmers seem to be doing pretty well \u201cdespite\u201d climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
