And it\u2019s not just you alone, Alex. It\u2019s really most of the thoughtful scientists and thinkers through the last several hundred years have understood the power of fossil fuels and economic growth in helping the vast majority of people across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe that finally broke through to Bill Gates. Maybe he just sees the writing on the wall and understands what\u2019s happening in modern America under President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the first is quite interesting: AI and the rise of AI.&nbsp;<strong>Does Gates not have significant investment in AI?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alex Epstein:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, he obviously has investments. I mean, every major tech company is taking into account AI, I think validly, whether their current investment level is right or not. It\u2019s key to their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s not even that it\u2019s just of interest to his company, although that\u2019s surely a factor. He thinks it\u2019s a big interest to humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But most importantly, all these things, it\u2019s more okay to talk about it.&nbsp;<strong>We already knew that the world needed way more energy, but now it\u2019s okay to talk about it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>That\u2019s why all these tech companies who made net zero pledges are suddenly saying, \u201cNo, we don\u2019t need net zero\u201d.
