Global banking climate group to stop operations after member exodus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The banking sector\u2019s global alliance for setting climate targets has ceased operations after an exodus of its members over the last year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 several major banks, including British<\/a> lenders HSBC<\/a> and Barclays<\/a>, left the group within the last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a result of this decision, NZBA will cease operations immediately.\u201d

\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Campaigners have condemned the exodus of major banks from the group, saying it undermines international efforts to co-ordinate climate action.

Apparently the climate \u201cresources\u201d created during the organisation\u2019s short life will still be available<\/a> for banks which want to use them. I\u2019m sure former member banks will find some use for the resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
