and others, I&#8217;m intimately familiar with the peer-review process. <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/irrationalfear.substack.com\/p\/is-the-latest-amoc-collapse-paper\">Irrationalfear.substack.com<\/a> has the story.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s far from perfect\u2014plagued by biases, delays, and occasional gatekeeping\u2014but it remains the gold standard for disseminating expert, evidence-based information in a timely and accurate manner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, when peer review gets weaponized to push a narrative, it crosses into dangerous territory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve seen this before in the climate science community, as I detailed in my piece\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irrationalfear.com\/manufacturing-consensus\/\">&#8220;Manufacturing Consensus&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0and as exposed in the infamous Climategate emails from 2009. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In those leaked messages, Dr. Michael Mann (of hockey-stick graph fame) explicitly discussed using the peer-review system to block dissenting papers, stating they would
