Labour\u2019s \u201cflight tax\u201d on airlines will add more than \u00a350 to the cost of a family holiday within a decade, analysis shows.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Net zero rules<\/em><\/a> introduced by Sir Keir Starmer mean planes must be filled with at least 2 per cent sustainable fuel, which will rise to 10 per cent followed by 22 per cent by 2040.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate means airlines that do not comply with the green policy face heavy fines likely to be passed on in part to passengers.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Costs associated with the new levy are expected to reach \u00a34.5 billion by 2035, according to a new analysis by Public First.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This works out at \u00a312.79 per passenger per flight leaving the UK, adding \u00a351.16 to the average overseas holiday taken by a family of four.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The <\/em>impact of the policy<\/em><\/a> is expected to hit Britons as soon as 2027, with its cost hitting \u00a3200 million in that year.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAF costs around seven times as much as conventional aviation fuel, so either way passengers will foot the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t remember the Labour Party manifesto telling us about this \u00a34.5 billion bill they want us all to pay!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
