class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Victorian government has offered support for offshore wind projects, including direct funding for feasibility studies.<br><br>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a federal level, Australia has so far managed to avoid the significant public investment made by countries like the United Kingdom to set up the industry.<br><br>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the government will consider direct funding support as part of\u00a0<a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.innovationnewsnetwork.com\/category\/energy-news\/\">Energy<\/a><br>24th May 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Australian mining and energy companies are set to access billions of dollars in funding as part of President Joe Biden\u2019s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) \u2013 this could significantly contribute to the clean energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allowance follows deals to grant special status to the country\u2019s defence manufacturing and critical minerals industries under the IRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plans were announced at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.g7hiroshima.go.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">G7 summit in Hiroshima<\/a>, where Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met up with Biden. Given China is a major US government creditor, the money Biden was borrowing from China to fund the IRA was being returned to China in the form of orders for green energy components, leaving the USA to pay debt interest on money which had already been returned to the pockets of Chinese investors. No doubt some of that returned money would have been recycled back into lending more money to the US government.
