  It looks like India\u2019s transition to renewable energy has been put on ice for another year!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the year ended March 25, India still relied on coal and gas for 74.5% of its electricity supply. Nuclear and hydro added another 11.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile solar power contributed just 7.9%, up from 6.7% last year. Meanwhile wind, generating just 4.6%, is a busted flush for India \u2013 generation did not increase at all year on year, and only 4 GW of new capacity has been added in the last 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thermal output also increased slightly, up 2.7% since 2023\/24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also need to remember that in total energy terms, rather than just electricity, India only got 6% of primary energy from renewables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
