10 years.<\/strong>\u00a0These included $270 billion for\u00a0<strong>clean energy tax credits<\/strong>\u00a0to support wind, solar, geothermal, and other renewables; clean hydrogen production; and carbon capture and storage technologies.\u00a0<strong>Buyers of electric vehicles<\/strong>\u00a0would get up to a $7,500 tax credit for new EVs and up to a $4,000 tax credit for used EVs (with income and manufacturing origin restrictions). industries.<\/strong>\u00a0His administration was especially punitive toward<strong>\u00a0the oil and gas sector:<\/strong>\u00a0it suspended leases on federal land, blocked vast swaths of the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf coasts from new drilling, canceled major pipelines, and imposed regulatory hurdles that made it increasingly difficult for the fossil fuel industry to attract investment capital.\u00a0<strong>As oil prices steadily rose<\/strong>, Biden\u2019s energy strategy<strong>\u00a0relied on tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve<\/strong>\u00a0and urging Saudi Arabia to increase production\u2014an ironic move given his simultaneous efforts to restrict Russian oil exports during the Ukraine war.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img Every aspect of nuclear energy today\u2014from fuel storage to waste disposal\u2014is light-years ahead of where it was decades ago.
