Carney has a history of threatening punishment<\/strong> for companies that don\u2019t conduct business in accordance with his wishes. An October 2019 Manchester Guardian article listed a number of occasions in which he warned<\/strong> that businesses falling behind in the pursuit of net zero emissions<\/strong> \u201cwill be punished\u201d and those \u201cthat don\u2019t adapt\u201d to the framework laid down by the climate bosses \u201cwill go bankrupt without question.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carney\u2019s threat of punishment is not the possibility of imprisonment but rather\u00a0the punishment of investors who will move their capital elsewhere.<\/strong>\u00a0This happens every day, of course.
