This is the latest reported slashing of government funds for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/04\/11\/white-house-scrap-another-federal-climate-research-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">climate<\/a>&nbsp;and renewable energy&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/04\/22\/necessary-trump-admin-ax-epa-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">initiatives<\/a>&nbsp;that were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/12\/17\/biden-roadblock-trump-energy-dominance-natural-gas-lng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">championed<\/a>&nbsp;during former President Joe Biden\u2019s administration, though Congress will ultimately have to sign off on the decision.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/05\/04\/ikea-furniture-energy-funds-still-flowing-to-these-biden-era-green-energy-scams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(RELATED: \u2018Got To Go\u2019: DOE To Cut Off Billions Of Dollars\u2019 Worth Of Biden-Era Green Energy Projects)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRecently I\u2019ve been called a climate denier or climate skeptic. This is simply wrong. I am a climate realist,\u201d Secretary of Energy Chris Wright&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/articles\/secretary-energy-chris-wright-delivers-keynote-remarks-ceraweek-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;during a speech in March. \u201cResponses to climate change bring their own set of trade-offs. The Trump administration will end the Biden administration\u2019s irrational quasi-religious policies on climate change that imposed endless sacrifices on our citizens,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy \u201cregularly issues&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/eere\/funding\/eere-funding-opportunities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">funding opportunities<\/a>\u201d through its 11 sub offices and other programs which finance solar, wind, geothermal, hydrogen and fuel cell systems development. Each sub office has invested millions into renewable projects over the years, some of which were wholly devoted to funding or developing a particular kind of renewable energy, as is the case with the Wind Energy Technologies&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/eere\/wind\/wind-energy-technologies-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office<\/a>, the Solar Energy Technologies&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/eere\/solar\/solar-energy-technologies-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office<\/a>&nbsp;and the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/eere\/fuelcells\/hydrogen-and-fuel-cell-technologies-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Renewable energy projects were regularly promoted by the Biden administration through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/08\/13\/biden-department-of-energy-stove-rule\/\">executive action<\/a>&nbsp;as well as through the former president\u2019s signature climate bill, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/5376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inflation Reduction Act<\/a>&nbsp;(IRA), which he signed in August 2022. While the bill was initially touted as a means of reducing record-high inflation, Biden later&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/B9ETh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a>&nbsp;its purpose was to advance his climate change policies. Biden allocated&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/08\/11\/joe-biden-inflation-reduction-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approximately<\/a>&nbsp;$370 billion towards efforts to combat climate change through the IRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump, who&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/declaring-a-national-energy-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declared<\/a>&nbsp;a national energy emergency immediately after returning to office, previously referred to the IRA as the \u201cGreen New Scam\u201d and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/program\/campaign-2024\/former-president-trump-remarks-at-the-economic-club-of-new-york\/648558\">vowed<\/a>&nbsp;while on the campaign trail to \u201crescind all unspent funds under the misnamed\u201d act. Republican lawmakers have since&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/05\/13\/gop-lawmakers-biden-green-energy-inflation-reduction-act\/\">introduced<\/a>&nbsp;measures that would repeal several subsidies provided under the IRA, including for hydrogen development and electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The president stated in a Jan. 20 executive order that the \u201cintegrity and expansion of our Nation\u2019s energy infrastructure\u201d is \u201can immediate and pressing priority for the protection of the United States\u2019 national and economic security.\u201d&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/08\/17\/inflation-reduction-act-two-years-biden-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(RELATED: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly: Biden\u2019s Climate Bill Turns Two Years Old)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DOE, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies and Solar Energy Technologies did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation\u2019s request for comment.
