class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Surface Mass Balance (SMB) for the Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) has been remarkably stable since the 1970s.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, according to the authors of a new study (a&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/egusphere.copernicus.org\/preprints\/2025\/egusphere-2024-3728\/egusphere-2024-3728.pdf\">preprint<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;soon to be published), \u201cin recent years, the SMB has increased on the AIS, in particular for 2022, which mostly originates from mass gain on the EAIS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\"
