In mid-April, Spain\u2019s socialist government bragged that, for the first time, the nation was powered by 100 percent \u201crenewable\u201d energy\u2014mostly solar and wind. One week later, Spain, Portugal, parts of France, and several other countries suffered the largest peacetime blackout in their histories. Net Zero came to Europe all right\u2014as in zero energy. We were perhaps seconds away from nearly the entire continent going dark. Yet again, wind, solar, and other \u201crenewables\u201d proved they simply cannot generate the consistent power needed to keep a complex electricity grid stable. We\u2019ve been warning about this for a while, and today we\u2019ll break down exactly what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
