The UK saw its warmest day of the year on Tuesday with a peak of 24.9C (76.8F) recorded \u2013 and forecasters predicting that later this week could see the hottest start to May on record.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highest temperatures were seen in Ross-on-Wye in the West Midlands and Trawscoed in the west of Wales \u2013 surpassing 2025\u2019s previous high of 24.5C recorded at St James\u2019s Park in London on Monday.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forecasters say the current warm spell could see temperatures peak at 29C on the first day of the new month on Thursday, as many voters head to the polls for local elections in England.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact there is nothing unusual about temperatures of 24C in April \u2013 they reached 29.4C in mid-April 1949. That\u2019s higher than the supposed \u201chottest start to May\u201d predicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the BBC are doing is cherry picking a particular day, the first of May, and saying \u201cHOTTEST EVAH\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as the Met Office indicate, temperatures in May can exceed 32C. A temperature of 29C, even at the start of the month, is not in the least exceptional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
