But when it gets to government planning of the electricity market,&nbsp;<em>her specialty<\/em>, the veneer comes off. It is \u2018market processes\u2019 within the rigged, governmental market. Add storage (another government play), and then whatever happens on the supply side can be equilibrated on the demand side with \u2018smart meters\u2019 (another government play) in your home or business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hot afternoon and the wind isn\u2019t blowing? Your thermostat flips to 78 degrees. No solar during the night? Can\u2019t turn on some of your appliances. Your \u2018smart meter\u2019\u2013expensive but necessary\u2013is boss in her neoclassical \u2018efficient\u2019, climate-alarmist \u2018decarbonized\u2019 world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What happens when the Production Tax Credit, the Investment Tax Credit, and the Inflation Reduction Act go away? Wind, solar, and batteries would reveal their true negative economics, to be replaced by reliable government-neutral generation that consumers wanted in the first place. Government sandbox emptied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What happens to the electricity policy consultants and little generals\u2013the technocrats\u2013when mandatory open access and central wholesale power planning by the Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs) go away? Perhaps some will find employment with an integrated electricity major or with independents in the structure of production, adding real value under profit\/loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A real free market in electricity\u2013studiously avoided by Kiesling\u2013is worth exploring. I have presented the case&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/aier.org\/article\/free-market-electricity-a-primer\/\">here<\/a>.
