Net zero targets are killing off the Church of England, clergy and wardens have warned.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to <\/em>new oil or gas boilers<\/em><\/a> has been restricted under a Church of England commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Telegraph investigation can reveal that the policy has left dozens of churches <\/em>in the cold for months on end<\/em><\/a>, with rural churches bearing the brunt of the policy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Priests and wardens have warned that the green energy drive is putting parishioners\u2019 health at risk, <\/em>driving down church attendance<\/em><\/a> and causing damp to rot historic buildings.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Telegraph points out, the cost of green technology is prohibitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Rev Marcus Walker, the rector of St Bartholomew the Great Church in central London \u201cIt\u2019s ridiculous. Some people would rather our churches were empty so long as they were more green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey make it so difficult to put in a boiler they hope you\u2019ll just give up. But while they force you through this process, your church is cold and people will freeze, fall sick, and go elsewhere. It\u2019s hard to believe their priority is people coming to God and worshipping him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
