He said that in his first eight months as secretary of state, he had visited Brazil, India and China, showing that \u201cBritain is back as a climate leader\u201d on the world stage.\u00a0<strong>The UK is<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2025\/mar\/14\/uk-hoping-to-work-with-china-to-counteract-trumps-climate-hostile-policies\"><strong>hoping to shape<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<strong>a new global axis<\/strong>\u00a0in favour of climate action along with China and developing countries,\u00a0<strong>to counter Donald Trump<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2025\/mar\/12\/epa-trump-climate-rules\">abandonment of green policies<\/a>\u00a0in the US.<br><br>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miliband said: \u201c<strong>The issue of forced labour is absolutely something I\u2019ve raised and it is a concern<\/strong>&nbsp;in the UK \u2026 I raised it with my Chinese hosts.\u201d He said China \u201cwill continue to play a really important role in solar production\u201d.<br><br>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026&nbsp;<strong>Beijing remains committed to coal, and recently pledged \u201cincrease coal production<\/strong>&nbsp;and supply capacity\u201d to ensure energy security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe obviously want China and all countries indeed to move away from fossil fuels,\u201d Miliband said.
