and&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2025\/02\/13\/us-raider-demands-green-energy-sell-off-at-bp\/\"><em>instead ramp up oil production<\/em><\/a><em>, according to reports.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The British energy giant will ditch its plan to increase renewable generation 20-fold by 2030,&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/bp-ditch-renewables-goals-return-focus-fossil-fuels-2025-02-24\/\"><em>Reuters reported<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The move is expected to be announced at an investor meeting on Wednesday and comes after Murray Auchincloss, the BP chief executive, promised&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/business\/2025\/02\/16\/major-city-investor-pushes-bp-quit-green-energy-pressure\/\"><em>a \u201cfundamental reset\u201d<\/em><\/a><em>&nbsp;of the company\u2019s strategy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>BP is expected to refocus on its lucrative fossil fuels business as it turns away from green energy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Scrapping the generation target will represent a further gutting of former chief Bernard Looney\u2019s plans. In 2020, Mr Looney pledged to grow BP\u2019s renewable energy capacity to 50 gigawatts (GW) by the end of the decade, implying massive investment in wind and solar farms. Generation capacity currently stands at 8.2 GW.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a
