But this is at risk from the alignment with the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), falsely advertised as modernizing and protecting the state\u2019s natural beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adhering to this globalist construct has left many local communities grappling with the fallout.&nbsp;From an exploding homeless population to rising energy costs and diminished economic opportunities, the promises of the SDGs have often clashed with the realities of life in America\u2019s Last Frontier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To understand how these things have wreaked havoc on Alaska, brief summaries are provided to illustrate the direct connection between SDGs and state policies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Big Picture Control<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UN\u2019s 17 SDGs are nothing more than the latest iteration of a long-standing agenda to impose centralized control under the guise of \u201csustainability.\u201d Rebranded roughly every 15 years \u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/outcomedocuments\/agenda21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Agenda 21<\/a>, the Millennium Development&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/millenniumgoals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goals<\/a>, now&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/21252030%20Agenda%20for%20Sustainable%20Development%20web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Agenda 2030<\/a>\u2014this construct repackages the same regulations whenever public skepticism grows.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sold as virtuous and noble, the SDGs are, in reality, a vehicle for global governance, economic manipulation, and land control.&nbsp;Compliance is enforced through corporate complicity, ESG mandates, the Paris Agreement, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biometricupdate.com\/tag\/sdg-16-9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital<\/a>&nbsp;surveillance, all while masquerading as progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Homelessness Crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Housing policies in SDG 1, which promised to \u201cend poverty in all its forms everywhere\u201d beginning as early as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muni.org\/departments\/health\/phip\/csd\/plansandreports\/action%20plans\/2005actionplan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2005<\/a>, were introduced in Anchorage, Alaska.&nbsp;These seemingly well-meaning initiatives have had the complete&nbsp;<em>opposite<\/em>&nbsp;effect.&nbsp;Anchorage has seen its homeless population explode in recent years, partially due to lenient&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muni.org\/Departments\/Assembly\/Documents\/Webpage%2520-%2520Housing%2520and%2520Homelessness%2520Committee\/Anchored%2520Home%2520for%2520Assembly_2024_04_15%2520%2520-%2520Final%2520to%2520Send%2520to%2520Assembly%2520Committee.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plans<\/a>&nbsp;that prioritize \u201cequity\u201d over accountability.&nbsp;Programs designed to house the homeless did not addressing underlying issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Housing First model, long championed as a solution under UN SDG-aligned policies, guarantees housing without requiring sobriety or participation in recovery programs.&nbsp;Intended to provide stability, this approach has created communities where substance abuse flourishes, straining law enforcement and social services.&nbsp;The Anchorage Assembly appears to be following the UN plan, down to using the same language\u2014to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/special-procedures\/sr-housing\/human-right-adequate-housing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solve homelessness<\/a>\u201c\u2014no matter the cost to taxpayers.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Judicial System Hijacked by Social Justice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SDG 16, which promotes \u201cpeace, justice, and strong institutions,\u201d has brought about troubling changes to Alaska\u2019s judicial system.&nbsp;What was once a system focused on fairness and enforcing the rule of law has increasingly pivoted toward social justice initiatives. The \u201cpursuit of social justice for all is at the core of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/statements\/message-world-day-social-justice-10379\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United Nations\u2019<\/a>&nbsp;mission to promote development and human dignity.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2016, Alaska\u2019s court system secured a \u2018Justice for All\u2019 grant from the Public Welfare Foundation.&nbsp;Framed as justice reform, the initiative was structured into three key phases, including redefining justice, mapping the justice ecosystem, and analyzing provider relationships, further embedding bureaucratic control.&nbsp;The Alaska Court System\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/courts.alaska.gov\/jfa\/docs\/plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Justice for All Project<\/a>\u201d prominently features the UN SDGs, serving as a stark reminder of who truly drives these decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A glaring example of the social justice takeover was in 2020 when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210115180508\/https:\/public.courts.alaska.gov\/web\/media\/docs\/sc-2020-stmt.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alaska\u2019s Supreme Court<\/a>\u00a0penned letters after the death of George Floyd.\u00a0The statement acknowledged systemic inequities in the treatment of African Americans, Alaska Natives, and other people of color, highlighting that these groups often face disparities in dignity and respect as compared to white community members.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The momentum has increased toward crippling the ability of officers to respond to violent suspects and drug addicts within the homeless population. The United Nations wants reform of \u201cpolice and criminal justice systems in the United States to eradicate systemic racism.\u201d&nbsp;To this end, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.akleg.gov\/basis\/Bill\/Detail\/34?Root=SB7#tab5_4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bill<\/a>&nbsp;to ban the use of chokeholds has been introduced multiple times by Alaska State Sen. Elvi&nbsp;Gray-Jackson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The push for social justice in our legal system is failing victims.&nbsp;Reduced sentencing and rehabilitation-focused programs may sound admirable, but they create a revolving door for repeat offenders.&nbsp; Meanwhile, law enforcement is hamstrung by policies that prioritize offender outcomes over public safety.&nbsp;Justice shouldn\u2019t feel this unjust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Vision Zero Collides with Alaska Transportation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First adopted in Sweden in 1997,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Vision Zero is a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/index.php?page=view&amp;type=20000&amp;nr=842&amp;menu=2993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">global initiative<\/a>&nbsp;to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries, tied closely to multiple SDGs. Its focus on safety and sustainability aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) to reduce road-related deaths and injuries.&nbsp;It complements SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through investments in safer transportation infrastructure and technology.&nbsp;SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) is another cornerstone, as Vision Zero promotes accessible urban designs, while SDG 13 (Climate Action) is supported by its non-motorized and public transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Alaska, federal&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dot.alaska.gov\/stwdplng\/cip\/stip\/projects\/Assets\/Alaska-DOTPF-Carbon-Reduction-Strategy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dollars<\/a>&nbsp;are dangled over the state to implement Vision Zero and carbon reduction into the transportation infrastructure.&nbsp; Vision Zero appears in the Mat-Su&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ss4a.matsugov.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Safe Streets for All<\/a>&nbsp;(SS4A) initiative, which aims to improve transportation safety and accessibility.&nbsp;The plan prioritizes \u201cvulnerable road users\u201d like pedestrians and cyclists.&nbsp;Funded through Justice40, a social equity and environmental justice initiative, mandating that 40 percent of benefits go to disadvantaged communities, shifting focus from broad public needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another example of Alaska\u2019s adoption of this initiative appears in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dot.alaska.gov\/comm\/pressbox\/arch2024\/PR24-0027.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>&nbsp;from the state announcing that they will set up a \u201cVision Zero Taskforce\u201d from an issue that was created by the Anchorage Municipality in the name of equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August of 2023, the Anchorage Assembly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muni.org\/Departments\/Assembly\/Documents\/AO%25202023-65(S).pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revised<\/a>&nbsp;the law decriminalizing jaywalking by removing fines.&nbsp;The ordinance was to \u201cpromote safety, equity and access infrastructure for bicyclists and other vulnerable road users.\u201d&nbsp;Shockingly, the pedestrian fatalities&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskasnewssource.com\/2024\/12\/04\/pedestrian-killed-by-driver-anchorage-identified-15th-fatality-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skyrocketed<\/a>&nbsp;to double the number from the previous year.&nbsp;The UN\u2019s Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) targets personal travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This transportation program Alaska signed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dot.alaska.gov\/stwdplng\/cip\/stip\/projects\/Assets\/Alaska-DOTPF-Carbon-Reduction-Strategy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">onto<\/a>&nbsp;enables the state to receive&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fhwa.dot.gov\/bipartisan-infrastructure-law\/crp_5year_funding_by_state.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">massive<\/a>&nbsp;amounts of taxpayer dollars to reduce carbon emissions.&nbsp;The plan includes verbiage to \u201cEncourage the adoption of construction machinery running on electric or alternative fuels to reduce emissions and enhance efficiency.\u201d For personal travel, \u201cShift from single-occupancy vehicle trips to mass transit\u201d and \u201cPromoting transit options to reduce both the number of single-occupancy vehicle trips and the total vehicle miles traveled . . . and integration of smart transportation technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Policies like road diets, surveillance, and reduced traffic lanes are less about sustainability and more about forcing compliance.&nbsp;These measures ignore Alaska\u2019s realities, where cars and planes are essential lifelines, not luxuries.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Climate Change = Oil Reduction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps no SDG has been as controversial in Alaska as SDG 13, which calls for urgent action to combat climate change.&nbsp;The root of the entire&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/21252030%2520Agenda%2520for%2520Sustainable%2520Development%2520web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">global plan<\/a>&nbsp;is grounded in arresting climate change.&nbsp;Climate Action has been part of the UN agenda since at least the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/conferences\/environment\/stockholm1972\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1970s<\/a>, with the most recent agenda being climate goals created to achieve the Paris Agreement to keep global temperature rise as close as possible above pre-industrial levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SDG 13\u2019s emission reduction goals strike directly at the heart of Alaska\u2019s economy, targeting vital industries like oil, gas, and resource extraction. Globally, Alaska represents about one-tenth of one percent of all CO2 emissions (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s43017-023-00406-z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">36,100<\/a>&nbsp;mm tons). In other words, Alaska\u2019s contribution to global emissions equates to precisely a gnat\u2019s burb in a hurricane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Policies and actions that have recently been implemented in Alaska to feed the climate narrative include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Decarbonization Goals:&nbsp;<\/strong>These include local-level&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.muni.org\/Departments\/Mayor\/AWARE\/ResilientAnchorage\/Documents\/MOA%2520Climate%2520Action%2520Strategy_ADOPTED.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">municipality<\/a>&nbsp;goals,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chugachelectric.com\/energy-solutions\/sustainability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">utility<\/a>&nbsp;co-op goals, state-level goals, and potentially disastrous mandates such as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gov.alaska.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/RPS-FAQ.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Renewable Portfolio Standard<\/a>&nbsp;mandating utilities buy a certain level of renewables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Social Cost of Carbon (SCC)<\/em>:<\/strong>&nbsp;This is used to assign monetary damages to carbon emissions, inflating the perceived harm while ignoring economic and societal benefits.&nbsp;It has been weaponized against essential energy projects, as seen in the ConocoPhillips Willow Project, where the SCC was explicitly used in an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).&nbsp;The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs Financing for Sustainable Development&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/financing.desa.un.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-11\/Chapter%25202_Intro%2520for%2520policymakers_UN%2520CarbonTax%2520Handbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirms<\/a>&nbsp;its use, stating \u201ca carbon tax should therefore be set at the same level everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Carbon Management&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gov.alaska.gov\/governor-dunleavy-outlines-carbon-management-bill-package\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>Legislation<\/strong><\/em><\/a><strong>:&nbsp;<\/strong>Passed by the Alaska State Legislature in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.akleg.gov\/basis\/Bill\/Detail\/33?Root=Sb%2048\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.akleg.gov\/basis\/Bill\/Detail\/33?Root=hb%2050\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2024<\/a>, these policies include carbon offsets and carbon sequestration.&nbsp;Carbon offsets are often based on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatechangenews.com\/2023\/05\/23\/verra-boss-steps-down-after-criticism-of-its-carbon-credits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unverifiable<\/a>&nbsp;metrics and are notoriously rife with double-counting and outright fraud.&nbsp;Worse, carbon offset programs are increasingly about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carboncredits.com\/land-dispute-casts-doubt-on-carbon-credits-from-brazil-amazon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">locking<\/a>&nbsp;up land under the guise of conservation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time, Alaska\u2019s Department of Resource Commissioner John Boyle boasted that the legislation \u201cburnishes the State\u2019s (ESG) credentials,\u201d signaling to corporate interests that Alaska is willing to play by the ever-expanding rules for ESG compliance \u2013 regardless of the long-term consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The United States joined the 30\u00d730 initiative under President Biden\u2019s 2021 America the Beautiful Plan. Aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, this plan seeks to remove up to 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters for use by 2030. It claims to address biodiversity and climate change but prioritizes land acquisition around \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/defenders.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-07\/getting-to-30x30-guidelines-for-decision-makers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">carbon mitigation potential<\/a>\u201d schemes that enrich governments, corporations, and NGOs while trampling on the sovereignty and will of local and Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In alignment with the 30\u00d730 plan, nearly half of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A) had been declared off-limits to oil and gas development, alongside&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/pressreleases\/biden-harris-administration-affirms-protection-28-million-acres-public-lands-alaska\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">28 million<\/a>&nbsp;additional acres of federal land. The Ambler Road has also been blocked, leaving Alaska\u2019s industries strangled by federal overreach.&nbsp;It should be obvious that 30\u00d730 isn\u2019t about saving the planet\u2014it\u2019s about consolidating power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alaska must reclaim its independence from harmful global agendas.&nbsp;A key step is passing legislation like Arizona\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azleg.gov\/legtext\/56leg\/2r\/bills\/hb2788h.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB 2788<\/a>, which bans public funds from supporting UN Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).&nbsp;Without funding tied to renewable energy mandates, Alaska could invest in practical hybrid energy solutions that balance environmental stewardship with energy reliability and affordability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within days of returning to the White House, President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from key UN agreements.&nbsp;The question remains:&nbsp;<em>Will Alaska\u2019s leaders and the GOP follow suit to protect Alaskans with a lasting commitment?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fundamental Reform<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there is an example to be learned from President Trump, it is that an executive has the power to act for the good of the people.&nbsp;Alaska Republican Party Chair Carmela Warfield Warfield and the Republican Party must take action to cultivate good candidates as primary challengers, mobilize local support for key policy positions, and support grassroots ballot initiatives that align with the Trump Mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Mike Dunleavy once stated, \u201cWhen you\u2019re dealing with resources, you\u2019re dealing with the governor\u2019s office, and when you\u2019re dealing with some of the agencies that deal with the resources, you\u2019re dealing with the governor\u2019s office because I appointed everybody.\u201d Well, it\u2019s time to take that same posture to support Alaskans and not the globalist billionaires.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to passing the Arizona bill, these actions would go a long way to show support to the Alaskan people:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Release the report from the Kenai Grand Jury investigating judicial corruption- unredacted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pause NGO lobbying for 90 days until a full review of the organization\u2019s purposes can be completed to identify their connection between the UN SDGs and Alaska funding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pass the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2025\/SF0092\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wyoming<\/a>\u00a0Make Carbon Dioxide Great again-no net zero bill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pause funding for 90 days on the AK LNG Project and confirm compliance with Trump EO on the Green New Deal, Justice40, Paris Climate Agreement, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eliminate the Alaska Standard from the state\u2019s website, which blatantly promotes \u201cHow Alaska is Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Trump was right to remove the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and eliminate the Green New Deal.&nbsp;Now, Alaska must do the same.&nbsp;The Dunleavy Administration and Republican leadership must step up\u2014hesitation is surrender.&nbsp;Governor Dunleavy must use the bully pulpit and the veto pen to eliminate waste in the same manner as the President.
