It encompasses the weather over different periods of time and also relates to mutual interactions between the components of the earth system (e.g., atmospheric composition, volcanic eruptions, changes in the earth\u2019s orbit around the sun, and changes in the energy from the sun itself).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>That\u2019s a mouthful, a typical governmental explanation.&nbsp;<strong>Simply put, weather is short-term,<\/strong>&nbsp;meaning days or a few weeks,<strong>&nbsp;while climate is long-term<\/strong>, meaning years, centuries, or longer.<\/em>&nbsp;[Comment: I prefer a baseball analogy: Weather is like the batter swinging in the box, and climate is the batting statistics, hits, walks, RBIs etc.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>It\u2019s sunny and unseasonably warm where I am today, but a week ago, it was snowy and unseasonably cold. A climate warrior might label the former as global warming, the latter as global cooling, or the composite as climate change. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The first sentence is undeniably true. The Great Lakes were once\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eekwi.org\/great-lakes\/great-lakes-formation-and-physical-features\/ice-age\">covered<\/a>\u00a0by mile-thick ice sheets that disappeared when the glaciers retreated 10,000 years ago. wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Many of the&nbsp;<strong>changes observed in the climate are unprecedented<\/strong>&nbsp;in thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years, and some of the changes already set in motion\u2014such as continued sea level rise\u2014<strong>are irreversible over hundreds to thousands of Do they know the&nbsp;<strong>temperatures hundreds of thousands of years ago?<\/strong>&nbsp;They should, as this data is readily available, published in the prestigious journal&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/acrobat.adobe.com\/id\/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:8876e463-ac25-4480-b4b2-7717143d0439\">Science<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Researchers reconstructed global mean surface temperature using data assimilation, integrating geological data with climate model simulations. Source:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/science.adk3705\"><strong>Judd et al 2024<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Today\u2019s global temperature is low.<strong>&nbsp;It was last this cold 300 million years ago.<\/strong>&nbsp;According to the chart, Planet Earth has been cooling for the past 50 million years.&nbsp;<strong>Any man-made warming would be helpful now.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Scientists should know better, as should corporate media.<br>But obviously, they don\u2019t.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I reference a few articles from this year in&nbsp;<strong>The Guardian<\/strong>, a two-hundred-year-old British newspaper&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Guardian\">considered<\/a>&nbsp;a \u201cnewspaper of record in the UK\u201d (along with the London Times), much like The New York Times in America. As a British newspaper, the Guardian has observed climate change&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2021\/feb\/12\/part-of-river-thames-freezes-amid-sub-zero-temperatures\">firsthand<\/a>,&nbsp;<strong>reporting on it cooling, then warming, then cooling again<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Another record is the recent (in geological terms) history of the&nbsp;<strong>Thames River. Between 1309 and 1814, it froze at least 23 times.<\/strong>&nbsp;There was a \u201cfrost fair\u201d in 1608 when the river froze for over six weeks.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What caused this freeze?<strong>&nbsp;London\u2019s activity in the 1600s<\/strong>&nbsp;was mainly overcrowding, disease, and crime, not air conditioners, internal combustion engines, and backyard grills.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>More recently, the river froze over in 1963 and again partially in 2021. This<strong>&nbsp;seems to be normal cyclic climate change<\/strong>, far from the \u201cman-made global warming\u201d the UN and IPCC warn about.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Guardian ran two stories this year without a bit of irony. In&nbsp;<strong>February<\/strong>&nbsp;of this year, their&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2024\/feb\/15\/spain-water-barcelona-farmers-tourism-catalonia-drought\">headline<\/a>&nbsp;was \u201cWhat will Spain look like when it runs out of water?<\/strong>&nbsp;Barcelona is giving us a glimpse.\u201d In&nbsp;<strong>October<\/strong>, the new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/live\/2024\/oct\/31\/spain-floods-valencia-malaga-latest-news\">headline<\/a>&nbsp;was&nbsp;<strong>\u201cSpain floods: number killed passes 150 as scientists say climate change \u2018most likely explanation\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 as it happened.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>From running out of water to flooding, all within a few months. It\u2019s dry, then it\u2019s wet. It\u2019s cold, then it\u2019s warm. And vice versa. It\u2019s also normal. But The Guardian wants it both ways. In&nbsp;<strong>December 2023<\/strong>, it ran a<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2023\/12\/21\/weather\/us-winter-temperatures-climate-change\/index.html\">headline<\/a>, \u201cWinter is here, but it\u2019s losing its cool.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>One year later<\/strong>, without a bit of irony or introspection, it reversed itself with this<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2025\/01\/01\/weather\/arctic-cold-outbreak-forecast-climate\/index.html\">headline<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s about to get dangerously cold, even for winter.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Much like racism,<strong>&nbsp;when everything is considered racist, then nothing is<\/strong>. The same is true for climate change. Psychologists call this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Confirmation_bias\">confirmation bias<\/a>,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People display this bias when they select information that supports their views, ignoring contrary information, or when they interpret ambiguous evidence as supporting their existing attitudes. The effect is strongest for desired outcomes, for emotionally charged issues, and for deeply entrenched beliefs.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also\u00a0<strong>hubris to believe that we can predict, much less control, the climate.<\/strong>\u00a0The IPCC readily\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ipcc.ch\/ipccreports\/tar\/wg1\/index.php?idp=501#:~:text=The%20climate%20system%20is%20a,of%20ensembles%20of%20model%20solutions.\">admits<\/a>, \u201cThe climate system is a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore, the long-term prediction of future climate states is impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"626\" height=\"437\" data-attachment-id=\"360904\" href=\"https:\/\/science.howstuffworks.com\/environmental\/conservation\/issues\/point-no-return-for-climate-action-is-2035.htm\">until<\/a>&nbsp;the Earth is uninhabitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p Gore,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;where Joel interviews an AI Gore, debunking Gore\u2019s conviction, expertise, and the entire climate emergency of the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To the fearmongering, climate-catastrophizing left, it\u2019s all humans\u2019 fault, and with ever-increasing command-and-control diktats, rules, regulations, and taxes, we can affect forces beyond our comprehension and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The climate is indeed changing<\/strong>\u2014it always has and always will.<strong>&nbsp;Temperatures will likely rise from their current 500 million-year low<\/strong>&nbsp;regardless of what the so-called experts, activists, or any world government agencies say or do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their attempts to regulate and tinker with Mother Nature,<strong>&nbsp;they may inadvertently destroy everything<\/strong>&nbsp;they are attempting to save\u2014unless that\u2019s the Hence the patter now coming out of companies such as Blackrock, BP or Microsoft, fanned by Mammon\u2019s public intellectuals, such as Mark Carney.
