The Alps and parts of Eastern Europe are expected to be hard hit by flooding especially on parts of the Czech Republic and Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe sudden cold snap means that snow is already falling in the Alps from 1000 meters upwards. And not in short supply: up to 3 meters of fresh snow is possible at high altitudes \u2013 conditions that are only known from the depths of winter. Places like Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are particularly affected, with heavy snowfall expected on Friday and Saturday,\u201d reports&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.daswetter.com\/nachrichten\/vorhersage\/massiver-wintereinbruch-mit-fast-3-meter-neuschnee-in-den-alpen-und-das-mitte-september-boden-und-luftfrost.html\">Das Wetter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such massive amounts of snow could mean that the ground there won\u2019t be seeing daylight until next summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cSevere winter outbreak\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, German meteorologist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=U6u9J27lnZA\"><strong>Dominik Jung<\/strong>&nbsp;today reports<\/a>&nbsp;at his daily video update of \u201ca severe winter outbreak\u201d for the Alps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"723\" height=\"407\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U6u9J27lnZA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSnow could fall at elevations down to 1000 meters. Friday and Saturday morning, snow is possible down to 700 meters above sea level,\u201d reports Jung, noting that this is \u201crelatively early\u201d for this time of year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSnow this low in the mountains this time of the year is rather unusual. Snow down to 1000-1500 meters happens occasionally.
