rooftop solar company, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, the company announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SunPower&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.sunpower.com\/2024-08-05-SunPower-Announces-Stalking-Horse-Asset-Purchase-Agreement-with-Complete-Solaria-to-Sell-Blue-Raven-Solar,-New-Homes,-and-its-Non-Installing-Dealer-Network\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed<\/a>&nbsp;for bankruptcy in Delaware after a string of corporate struggles, changes to California\u2019s rooftop solar subsidy programs and high interest rates weighed down its business,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-08-06\/former-manufacturing-giant-sunpower-files-for-bankruptcy?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=share&amp;utm_campaign=twitter?sref=5dj0X2VO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a>&nbsp;to Bloomberg News. Before it unraveled,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/us.sunpower.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SunPower<\/a>&nbsp;was among the leading solar companies in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SunPower will look to sell some of its assets to Complete Solaria while the company and some of its other subsidiaries file for bankruptcy announced, SunPower said in its Monday announcement.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/01\/29\/california-solar-companies-bankruptcy-handouts-biden-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(RELATED: California Solar Companies Hit The Skids After Receiving Huge Handouts From Biden, Dems)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn light of the challenges SunPower has faced, the proposed transaction offers a significant opportunity for key parts of our business to continue our legacy under new ownership,\u201d&nbsp;Tom Werner, SunPower\u2019s executive chairman, said of the bankruptcy and the Complete Solaria transaction. \u201cWe are working to secure long-term solutions for the remaining areas of our business, while maintaining our focus on supporting our valued employees, customers, dealers, builders, and partners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2023, state policymakers changed California\u2019s rooftop solar subsidy programs and weakened the incentive for companies to push rooftop solar by reducing payments to homeowners who sell back excess power the panels generate,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/calmatters.org\/environment\/2023\/11\/california-solar-payment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a>&nbsp;to CalMatters. Those changes negatively affected SunPower\u2019s business, culminating in its bankruptcy filing, according to Bloomberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to its bankruptcy, SunPower showed signs of distress.
