The warm weather we are having now is just a welcome break in a cooling trend that started 7,000 years ago. It not only isn\u2019t a record that means anything, it\u2019s almost certainly a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/joannenova.com.au\/2021\/09\/global-warming-saves-166000-lives-a-year-un-says-stop-that-now\/\">net benefit to warm blooded mammals.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collective amnesia about the Holocene and most of the history of human civilization is complete. Apparently the world is in uncharted territory, except for thousands of rocks, stones, spears, shells, bits of wood, pollen, diatoms, fossilized plant leaves, and all the ice cores we\u2019ve ever dug up. 4,000 stone-age spears and whatnot that<a href=\"https:\/\/joannenova.com.au\/2023\/09\/it-used-to-be-warmer-4000-new-bits-of-evidence-melt-out-of-norwegian-glaciers\/\">&nbsp;melted out of the Norwegian glaciers<\/a>&nbsp;in the last few years, must have frozen into them sometime in the last 5,000 years. And all the<a href=\"https:\/\/joannenova.com.au\/2024\/05\/cats-dogs-rabbits-geese-and-frogs-lived-in-the-high-arctic-during-a-hotter-era-9000-years-ago\/\">&nbsp;bones of dogs, rabbits, geese and frogs f<\/a>ound inside the Arctic circl<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2024\/07\/23\/climate\/hottest-day-global-record\/index.html\">e suggest our world is too brutally cold now<\/a>. And&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/joannenova.com.au\/2012\/11\/the-message-from-boreholes\/\">6,000 boreholes drilled&nbsp;<\/a>around the world agree, along with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/joannenova.com.au\/2023\/03\/1000-pacific-and-indian-islands-are-not-shrinking-due-to-climate-change\/\">700 Pacific Island<\/a>s that aren\u2019t shrinking.
