Well, that was the headline in the&nbsp;<em>Sydney Morning Herald<\/em>&nbsp;back then \u2013 32 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, the clams were still small, the offspring of a successful artificial breeding program at Orpheus Island. The species,&nbsp;<em>Tridacna gigas<\/em>, is considered endangered.
