A judge tossed out Baltimore\u2019s climate lawsuit against major energy corporations on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Videtta Brown of the Baltimore City Circuit Court ruled<\/a> Wednesday to throw out the city\u2019s lawsuit<\/a> seeking to hold major oil companies \u2014 including British Petroleum (BP), Chevron and ExxonMobil \u2014 liable for climate change and an alleged effort to deceive the public about the environmental damage they knew their products would cause. Brown wrote that the lawsuit \u201cgoes beyond the limits of Maryland state law\u201d in her ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baltimore\u2019s litigation was one of many<\/a> similarly-styled lawsuits against major oil companies being pursued by Democratic jurisdictions, including Minnesota and San Francisco.
