Another fake news story that has doubtlessly been well coordinated around the media:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

A cold, rainy summer might not be much to look forward to, but experts now say Britons should enjoy it while they can.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This interactive map developed by scientists from the University of <\/em>Maryland<\/em><\/a> lets you take a terrifying glimpse into the scorching future of your city in 60 years\u2019 time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already, more than half of the planet is expected to shift into new climate zones by the end of the century.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts predict that <\/em>London<\/em><\/a>\u2018s summers will become 4.6\u00b0C (8.3\u00b0F) warmer and 10 per cent drier \u2013 giving the city the same climate as the South of <\/em>France<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lead researcher Matthew Fitzpatrick, of the University of Maryland, says: \u2018Everything is moving towards the equator in terms of the climate that\u2019s coming for you.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

These are not \u201cexperts\u201d, and they most certainly are not \u201cscientists\u201d. Real scientists would never publish such baseless, evidence free, unadulterated nonsense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that is exactly what this new study is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea that UK cities will get 4C warmer in the next fifty years is simply bunkum and has no basis in reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forget about average trends; these tell you more about extremely cold summers than hot ones. The fact remains that the summer of 1976 is still by far the hottest in England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But even if you ignore this as an outlier, the hottest of recent summers are still less than a degree warmer than the likes of  1899, 1911, 1933 and 1947:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one reason, and one reason only, why the South of France is 4C hotter \u2013 the sun. Unless the Earth changes its orbit, our summers will never become Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the drier summers predicted, the claim also flies in the face of the evidence, which shows that summers are becoming neither drier or wetter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
