Human-induced climate change made recent extreme heat in the US south-west, Mexico and Central America around 35 times more likely, scientists say.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The World Weather Attribution (WWA) group studied excess heat between May and early June, when the US heatwave was concentrated in south-west states including California, Nevada and Arizona<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The record June temperature was 122F in 1990, and thirty years since 1933 have had higher temperatures than 113F in June:<\/p>\n\n\n

As for the length of the heatwave, Phoenix has had four days over 110F so far in June. In June 1974 they had eighteen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
