In my 13 years of working here, I don\u2019t remember signing a death certificate for heat stroke. This year, I\u2019ve signed several,\u201d says Ajay Chauhan of the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RMLH).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Delhi has been reeling under a prolonged heatwave, with daily temperatures crossing 40C (104F) since May, peaking at nearly 50C. Humidity and hot winds exacerbate the heat, compounded by water shortages and power outages due to soaring demand. It is a high quality site, well away from the city centre and with a long record of data. Their data shows that the highest temperature there this year was 46.8C on 30th May. The record there is 47.2C, set in May 1944.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the length of the heatwave, which began at the start of May, we do know that May as a whole was not particularly hot at all.
