Some Greens are waking up to the ills of so-called \u201cgreen\u201d energy. And it\u2019s about time. And rather fun to watch \u2013 if the drive for the holier-than-thou green grail hadn\u2019t already done so much damage to the beautiful environment of our great country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basin and Range Watch posted on X:<\/a> 4,200 Joshua trees are scheduled to be removed and replaced by solar panels for the Aratina Solar Project near Boron, CA, in June of this year. The trees will not be salvaged, but funds based on their size will be placed in a mitigation bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wow, but keep in mind Joshua trees are not very big. And how do they figure out the fund size? Who cares?! If they can be cavalier about thousands of Joshua trees, think about what else will not be worth salvaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jason Brown, on sierrawave.net, posted a short piece titled \u201cShadows Over Joshua Tree: Sacrificing Nature for Solar Power<\/a>\u201d. He notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2023, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determined that Joshua Trees are not endangered. They concluded they are unlikely to be significantly threatened in the next 50 years \u2026 However, a study conducted in 2013 revealed that Joshua trees are experiencing a halt in reproduction across approximately half of their range within Joshua Tree National Park. As temperatures rise and conditions become drier, it is anticipated that the available habitat for Joshua trees will diminish significantly. By the end of the century, as much as 90 percent of the Joshua Tree habitat could vanish due to these environmental changes. You read that right, a reduction of 90 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But don\u2019t worry, Aratina Solar is going to use some of the lucre they get from the government to do such good things for the people of the area:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
