I never thought the climate could be sexist, but in the world of man-made global warming, everything <\/em>is apparently on the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a German news article, \u201cSwiss seniors sue government in rights court over climate<\/a>\u201d, we learn there are no absolutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marie-Eve Volkoff, 85, is suing the government alongside the association with a membership of around 2,000 other elderly women for what she calls \u201cclimate lockdown.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve been told that climate change affects those in poorer neighborhoods (even though they might be butt up against a wealthy one). Okay, and now women are more greatly impacted \u2026 but not men? How selective can climate change be? Can floods, wildfires, tornados, etc. randomly wipe out a town (as they have through the ages naturally) but only raise the alarm if they hit the wrong segment of the population? You can imagine the headline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClimate change kills everyone in village: Women impacted the most\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what about the \u201ches\u201d who become \u201cshes\u201d or vice versa<\/em>? This is getting way too complicated. Or ludicrous?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The women had protested their government\u2019s \u201cwoefully inadequate\u201d efforts to fight climate change. They said older women were at particular risk of dying during heat waves and demanded a ruling that would slash fossil fuel emissions much faster than planned.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a court of supposedly intelligent men and women bought it \u2014 hook, line, and sinker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026, judges found that the Swiss government had violated some human rights by missing past emissions reduction targets.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, elderly women in Switzerland are to be somehow protected from the evils of alleged manmade climate change, whatever that means. But even more significant than that, it is the first time the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has addressed climate change emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what were the actions that brought about this charge?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026The Swiss government had violated some human rights by missing past emissions reduction targets. <\/em>And: included \u201ca failure by the Swiss authorities to quantify, through a carbon budget or otherwise, national greenhouse gas emissions limitations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday\u2019s ruling is the first time the ECHR has issued a ruling on <\/em>emissions and climate change<\/u><\/em>. (emphasis mine)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did we really expect common sense and reason?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
