The UK as a whole saw its second warmest recorded February.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Farmers say they are losing crops to floods while less frost hurts the growth of trees like apples and pears.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The provisional statistics are in line with long-term projections of warmer, wetter winters due to climate change.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Average temperatures for the UK as a whole in February were 6.3C.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>That\u2019s still below February 1998\u2019s figure of 6.8C.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-68435197.amp\">https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-68435197.amp<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Met Office data goes back to 1884, but yet again the Met Office conveniently ignore the much longer CET series, which shows that February 1779 was actually warmer.
