like at a coral reef, get yourself to Townsville and book a trip with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/adrenalindive.com.au\/about\/\">Adrenalin Snorkel and Dive<\/a>&nbsp;to John Brewer Reef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is&nbsp;<em>not&nbsp;<\/em>hard to describe parts of John Brewer Reef three weeks after cyclone Kirrily. &nbsp;My dive buddy, and one of the best underwater cinematographers in the world, Stuart Ireland, described what was once my favourite underwater crevasse overlaid with massive, perfectly arranged, pink plate corals, he now describes it as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Bull in a China Shop Alley.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the corals have been picked-up, flipped-over, and smashed-up, at class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plate corals were once so large, and back in April 2022, it was all so aesthetically pleasing because the corals were the right way up, growing together, tastefully class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of these massive corals that you can see in our film, \u2018Bleached Colourful\u2019, they have been lifted and flipped over.\u00a0 Such was the power of tropical cyclone Kirrily, barely a category three system as it passed over John Brewer reef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bleached Colourful - Part 1\" picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you enjoy a good horror film, and you fancy yourself as much more than an armchair environmentalists get out to this reef.&nbsp; &nbsp;Now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I described this reef, John Brewer Reef, as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jennifermarohasy.com\/2023\/05\/coral-snapshot-2022-23-all-the-unanswered-questions\/\">the most colourful and beautiful reef<\/a>&nbsp;that I have ever seen, that was when this same coral reef was making headlines around the world as being at the epicentre of a sixth mass coral bleaching, that was in April 2022 \u2013 two years ago.&nbsp; There were a few corals that had bleaching white, but&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jennifermarohasy.com\/2022\/04\/leonard-lims-exquisite-photography-of-john-brewer-reef\/\">most of the reef was intact and so colourful<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cyclone Kirrily\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.townsvillebulletin.com.au\/news\/townsville\/queensland-cyclone-track-map-by-bureau-of-meteorology-shows-townsville-in-firing-line-weather\/news-story\/b2c8c9b54f4d30a329c36289169b4881\">passed directly over the top of John Brewer Reef<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday January 25, 2024.\u00a0\u00a0 As you might visit a friend in hospital consider taking the time to swim with these corals now \u2013 the
