CO2 can <strong>shed its absorbed energy via a collision in about 20 microseconds.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 Oxygen and nitrogen make up 99% of the earth\u2019s atmosphere. Those molecules<strong> warm by collisions<\/strong> with greenhouse gases and earth\u2019s solar heated surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 It\u2019s <strong>oxygen, nitrogen and the ocean that traps heat<\/strong>. Oxygen and nitrogen <strong>can\u2019t radiate<\/strong> heat back to space. Subsurface solar-heated ocean water <strong>can\u2019t radiate <\/strong>heat back to space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 The truth is <strong>without<\/strong> heat transfer to greenhouse gases, <strong>oxygen and nitrogen would experience runaway warming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 <strong>Heat absorbed by oxygen and nitrogen can only radiate back to space by colliding with a greenhouse gas<\/strong>, transferring its energy so that the greenhouse gases can radiate that energy back to space!
