According to a new study<\/a><\/strong>, eastern Mediterranean summer temperatures were 1.5\u00b0C to 3\u00b0C \u201cgreater than the present\u201d from about 11,000 to 7,000 years ago, when CO2 levels were approximately 265 ppm. Then the temperatures \u201cfollowed a gradual decline towards present-day conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe MTWA also showed an increasing trend from 9\u2009ka and reached a maximum of ca. 1.5\u00b0C greater than the present at ca. 4.5 and 5\u2009ka, followed by a gradual decline towards present-day conditions. \u2026 The TRACE-21k-I simulation shows peak summer temperatures between 11 and 9\u2009ka, when the MTWA was ca. 3\u00b0C greater than the present\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another new study<\/a><\/strong> indicates the climate average was much warmer (19.9\u00b0C) during the mid-Holocene than today (13\u00b0C) in Japan. The climate here was also warmer than today ~35-40,000 and ~55-60,000 years ago, when CO2 was said to be under 200 ppm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe average temperature during the period from 5.4 to 3.8 ka \u2026 is 19.9\u00b0C \u00b1 6.0\u00b0C and is higher than the present cave temperature of 13\u00b0C.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
