So we\u2019re going to&nbsp;<strong>maybe see three feet of sea level rise.<\/strong>&nbsp;Then they say, \u2018So everybody who lives within three feet of sea level, they\u2019ll have to move!\u2019 Well, no. A third of the&nbsp;<strong>Netherlands is below sea level.<\/strong>&nbsp;In some areas, it\u2019s 22 feet below. Yet the country thrives. That\u2019s the way to deal with climate change: adjust to it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cFewer people are going to get flooded every year, despite the fact that you have much higher sea level rise. This is what you get when you have constant fearmongering in the media.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Some people now&nbsp;<strong>say they will not have children<\/strong>&nbsp;because they\u2019re convinced that climate change will destroy the world. Lomborg points out how&nbsp;<strong>counterproductive<\/strong>&nbsp;that would be: \u201cWe need your kids to make sure the future is better.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>He acknowledges that climate warming will kill people.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cAs temperatures go up, we\u2019re likely to see&nbsp;<strong>more people die from heat.<\/strong>&nbsp;That\u2019s absolutely true. You hear this all the time. But what is underreported is<strong>&nbsp;the fact that nine times as many people die from cold<\/strong>\u2026. As temperatures go up, you\u2019re going to see fewer people die from cold. Over the last 20 years, because of temperature rises, we have seen about 116,000 more people die from heat. I\u2019m simply suggesting there\u2019s a way that we could do much better with much less.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Of course if you feel very strongly about your particular area,&nbsp;<strong>when I come and say, \u201cActually, this is not a very efficient use of resources.\u201d I get why people get upset. So, all everybody\u2019s talking about is all the electricity, which is the easiest thing to switch over. But we don\u2019t know anything about how we\u2019re going to, know very, very little about how we\u2019re going to deal with<strong>\u00a0the other 4\/5. This is energy that we use on things that are very, very hard to replace.<\/strong>\u00a0So it\u2019s a fertilizer that keeps 4 billion people alive. Making the fertilizer. It\u2019s steel, cement, it\u2019s industrial processes. First of all, you would\u00a0<strong>not be able to feed everyone<\/strong>\u00a0in the U.S. The whole<strong>\u00a0economy would break down<\/strong>. You wouldn\u2019t know\u00a0<strong>how to get transportation<\/strong>. A lot of\u00a0<strong>people would freeze.<\/strong>\u00a0Some people would fry. There would be lots and lots of problems. But\u00a0<strong>even if you did this<\/strong>\u00a0and managed to do it, the net impact, if you run it through the U.N. climate model, is that\u00a0<strong>you<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>would reduce temperatures<\/strong>\u00a0by the end of the century<strong>\u00a0by 0.3 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/strong>\u00a0We would almost not be able to measure it by the end of the century. And that\u2019s true. I\u2019m making the argument that for fairly little money, we could do amazing good.&nbsp;<strong>If we spent<\/strong>&nbsp;$35 billion,<strong>&nbsp;not a trillion dollars, just $35 billion,<\/strong>&nbsp;which is not nothing. I don\u2019t think, neither you or I have that amount of money.
