Through Dec. 12, the \u201cClimate!\u201d crowd is swarming COP28, Dubai\u2019s carbophobia cavalcade.<\/strong> The fact that these global-warming alarmists are surrounded by Earth\u2019s deepest pools of fossil fuels<\/strong> makes their Hajj infinitely ironic.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also astonishing is the nearly immeasurable impact<\/strong> of these people\u2019s gyrations. They blow trillions of dollars, bludgeon human freedom, and yet do shockingly little to fix their vaunted \u201cclimate crisis.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One practically needs an electron microscope to find their promised
reductions in allegedly venomous CO2 or supposedly lethal temperatures.<\/mark><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clean Power Plan Cost\/Benefit<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Obama-Biden\u2019s proposed Clean Power Plan was a diamond-encrusted specimen of do-nothingism. According to a May 2015 analysis<\/a> by their own Energy Information Agency, between 2015 and 2025, the CPP would have slashed real GDP by $993 billion,<\/strong> or an average of $39.7 billion per year.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would have sliced real disposable income by $382 billion<\/strong>, or $15.3 billion annually. It also would have chopped manufacturing shipments by $1.13 trillion,<\/strong> or $45.4 billion per year.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

EIA forecast a decrease of 0.035\u00b0 Fahrenheit.<\/strong>\u00a0This would have cranked a thermometer from 72\u00b0 F way down to 71.965\u00b0.\u00a0 As Billy Joel once sang, \u201cIs that all you get for your money?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

IRA Funded Green Energy Projects Cost\/Benefit<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Biden\u2019s blessed Inflation Reduction Act budgeted $369 billion for green-energy projects.<\/strong> Goldman Sachs subsequently slapped a $1.2 trillion price tag<\/a> on the IRA.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Danish environmental expert Bjorn Lomborg<\/a> ran the IRA through the United Nations\u2019 climate models. \u201cImpact<\/strong> of new climate legislation,\u201d Lomborg specified.  \u201cUnnoticeable<\/a>: 0.0009\u00b0F to 0.028\u00b0F in 2100.\u201d <\/strong> This would chill thermostats from 72\u00b0 to 71.9991\u00b0.<\/strong> If we get lucky: 71.972\u00b0.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biden said on Jan. 31 that \u201cif we don\u2019t stay under 1.5\u00b0 Celsius\u201d or 2.7\u00b0 Fahrenheit, \u201cwe\u2019re going to have a real problem.\u201d\u00a0If a 0.0009\u00b0 F reduction costs $369 billion, then Biden\u2019s 2.7\u00b0 F goal would devour\u00a0\u2014\u00a0brace yourself \u2014\u00a0$1.107 quadrillion \u2014\u00a0with a Q.<\/mark><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

Biden EV Mandate Cost\/Benefit<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Emperor Biden\u2019s electric-vehicle decree would require that at least\u00a067% of new cars sold in 2032 be electric.<\/strong>\u00a0This edict\u00a0already is stalling the auto industry.<\/strong>\u00a0On Nov. 29,\u00a03,902 U.S. car dealers<\/a>\u00a0in all 50 states wrote Biden. Message: Stop tailgating!\u00a0 \u201cAlready,\u00a0electric vehicles are stacking up on our lots,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0the dealers complained.\u00a0 \u201cThe majority of customers are simply not ready to make the change.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

This chaos aside, Biden\u2019s mandate would limit CO2 by 10 billion tons through 2055.<\/strong> Alas, China<\/strong> is expected to generate 320 billion tons<\/strong> of carbon in the next 32 years. So, Biden\u2019s \u201csavings\u201d will asphyxiate in a giant Chinese carbon cloud<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holman Jenkins of The Wall Street Journal calculates that Biden\u2019s EV order will\u00a0decrease planetary emissions by a\u00a0whopping 0.18%<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cThe climate effect of the extravagantly expensive Biden plan will steadily approach zero,\u201d Jenkins anticipates.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bans on Gas Stoves and Heaters Cost\/Benefit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than jail criminals or deport illegal aliens, Governor Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., bans gas stoves and<\/strong> demands that gas heaters<\/strong> yield to electric heat pumps \u2014 never mind that her constituents freeze to death<\/a> during post-blizzard blackouts.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe global effect of the costly program of compulsory electrification will be a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of less than 0.05%<\/a>,\u201d<\/strong> the Empire Center for Public Policy calculates.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summation<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Obama, Biden, Hochul and their comrades might respond that no single bauble will fix everything, and every shiny object helps.  Maybe.  But these four schemes alone carry an enormously high price in shredded freedom<\/strong> and<\/strong> incinerated taxpayer dollars,<\/strong> yet still leave at least 99.82% of emissions untouched.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To quote another Briton, William Shakespeare, perhaps this \u201csound and fury, signifying nothing\u201d is not about cutting emissions or curbing Earth\u2019s temperatures<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it\u2019s designed to help Democrats spend trillions of dollars to signal virtue, bark orders<\/strong> at the American people, and lavish<\/strong> taxpayers\u2019 hard-earned cash on their politically connected pals<\/strong> \u2014 from the Potomac to the Persian Gulf.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

The estimates of lowering temperatures come from IPCC-approved models, which presume that Global Mean Temperature (GMT) rises in response to rising atmospheric CO2.\u00a0 In fact that premise is itself dubious since basic physics requires that a cause precede an effect in time. The evidence points to changes in CO2 lagging rather than leading GMT changes.\u00a0 This is true on all time scales, from last month\u2019s observations to ice cores spanning millenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
