The purpose of the graphic was apparently to show how well some countries are doing in&nbsp;<em>ramping down fossil fuels<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>ramping up renewables<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Note:&nbsp; Almost totally eliminated their local coal and ramped up renewables.&nbsp; &nbsp;Looking at the NY Times graphic with \u201cSee Trends\u201d selected in the upper right corner, you can find lots of countries really on the bandwagon saving the Earth from fossil fuel pollution.&nbsp; those with more than a thin line at the bottom of their charts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But as far as fossil fuel burning to produce electricity, ONLY those nations above really matter in the present.&nbsp; And, if one wants to be more precise, only China, the United States, and India matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the hoopla about COP28, all the travel, the extravagance, the pontification, speeches, grandstanding, handshaking and general pretense that they are \u201cdoing something\u201d&nbsp;<strong>will amount to nothing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing if those \u201cthose countries that matter\u201d do not agree to make the huge, economy-crushing, socioeconomically-harmful, nation-destroying decisions that are being demanded of them by \u201cThe Climate Crazies\u201d (remember the declaration of the \u201cera of global boiling\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I doubt that they will agree \u2013 these countries will do what they have been doing the last 25 years:<em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>making promises and keeping only those that are convenient and profitable.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong># # # # #<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Author\u2019s Comment:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI could be wrong now, but I don\u2019t think so.\u201d&nbsp;
