Not only politicians, but also companies are starting to get hysterical when it to comes to climate. There are now drastic wage cuts if employees drive or eat meat.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Germany\u2019s APOLLO NEWS here reports<\/a> that soccer club VfL Osnabr\u00fcck is now \u201cpenalizing its employees with climate fines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBased on an individual CO\u2082 footprint calculated by the club, deductions are made from their salaries as a penalty for climate-unfriendly behavior,\u201d reports the German site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it\u2019s probably a dream of many people to be employed by a professional sports team, the club will probably get away with it. Unhappy employees can be easily replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in the current environment of a severe skilled workers shortage, other companies may be extremely hesitant to enact such a draconian and personally intrusive policy. It also likely violates German labor law. In any case, VfL Osnabr\u00fcck does show just how loony the climate craze is getting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the APOLLO site<\/a>: \u201cThe soccer club calculates the amount of salary that is deducted based on things like how far its employees travel to work or how much meat they consume.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the VfL Osnabr\u00fcck site: \u201cCommon good clause: VfL employees compensate for professional CO\u2082 emissions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, in its employment contracts with the workers, VfL Osnabr\u00fcck has a public welfare clause which states the employee pledges \u201cto actively support the club\u2019s orientation toward the common good\u201d and also contains \u201ca mandatory reference to the compensation of occupational CO\u2082 emissions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to APOLLO, VfL Osnabr\u00fcck \u201csurveys\u201d the \u201cCo2 footprint\u201d of each employee, which is based on, among other things, the length of the commute and eating habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCompensation takes place by deducting the corresponding monetary value directly from the employee\u2019s salary.\u201d VfL Osnabr\u00fcck calls what amounts to a penalty tax \u201ca direct monetary incentive to change behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club mentions again and again that it\u2019s all about protecting our grandchildren\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked by German national daily Die Welt<\/em>, the club refused to provide the exact wording of the employment clause, citing \u201cconfidentiality and secrecy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
