October 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cUnimaginable apocalypse\u2026likely culprits: climate cooling, deforestation<strong>\u201c<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>G\u00fcnther Aigner<\/strong>&nbsp;has posted video on the Magdalen Flood, which occurred in July, 1342, and was by far the worst to ever hit Central Europe in recorded history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The area impacted includes today\u2019s Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Italy and other parts of Central Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"723\" height=\"407\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oAtbQcdMLkE?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So horrendous was this flood that it is today often called the flood of the millennium, with some even calling it the worst of the Holocene, i.e. the past 10,000 years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One third of all erosion in 1500 years \u2013 in a single week!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Aigner, \u201cOne-third of the total soil erosion of the past 1,500 years in what is now Germany happened in just one single week in July, 1342. According to Hans-Rudolf Bork, the water masses of the&nbsp;<strong>Magdalen flood were equivalent to 50 to 100 times the flood of the century<\/strong>&nbsp;in 2002 on the Elbe River. A repetition of such a flood would completely devastate large parts of Central Europe. It would be an unimaginable apocalypse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Extreme weather during cooling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the video, Aigner notes that the flood occurred during a period of climate cooling in Europe, after the Medieval Warm Period (ca. 900 A.D. to 1300 A.D).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, whenever flooding occurs, the media often parade it as a \u201cone-hundred-year\u201d event and a dire sign of climate change. The word \u201cunprecedented\u201d often gets used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But as Aigner shows, major flooding events in Europe have often occurred before and were far worse. In 1342, sn extreme case likely was the culprit \u2013 nudged on by \u201cclimate change\u201d. By 1342, Europe\u2019s climate had long changed for the worse, as it began its descent into a period of protracted cooling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During this cold, treacherous period, Europe was frequented by a viscous series of natural disasters that included, severe droughts, floods, famine, wars and plagues.
