class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>June has been confirmed as the hottest on record for the UK.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A rapid study by Met Office scientists found the chance of observing a June beating the previous record of 14.9\u00b0C, like we have this year, has at least doubled since the period around 1940. The previous record of 14.9\u00b0C was recorded in 1940 and 1976.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.metoffice.gov.uk\/about-us\/press-office\/news\/weather-and-climate\/2023\/fingerprints-of-climate-change-on-june-temperature-records\">https:\/\/www.metoffice.gov.uk\/about-us\/press-office\/news\/weather-and-climate\/2023\/fingerprints-of-climate-change-on-june-temperature-records<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>They knew, of course, that it was not the hottest on record, because they have the Central England Temperature series, and this dates back further their UK records.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And according to CET, June 1846 was more than a degree hotter. It was also hotter in 1676, 1822 and 1826. That, of course, demolished their claims about global warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com\/2023\/07\/04\/hottest-evah-june\/\">pointed out<\/a>\u00a0at the time, the average temperature in June was high because of the quirks of the calendar. Relatively warm, sunny weather pretty much lasted all month, before quickly disappearing at the beginning of July.
