Tractors, a taxi and a three-wheel car were seen spiralling around a roundabout at\u00a0Orpington<\/a>\u00a0War Memorial, South East London, while protesters shouted into megaphones and blew whistles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ulez expansion will see drivers in outer London pay a \u00a312.50 daily fee from August 29th if their vehicles do not meet required emissions standards<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister\u00a0Rishi Sunak<\/a>\u00a0last month urged London\u00a0Mayor\u00a0Sadiq Khan<\/a>\u00a0to \u201cthink twice\u201d about Ulez expansion, while on Monday, Labour leader Sir\u00a0Keir Starmer<\/a>\u00a0suggested cities should look at other options for tackling air pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Khan has previously admitted his decision to expand the Ulez was \u201cvery difficult\u201d but insisted it would \u201csee five million more Londoners being able to breathe cleaner air\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orpington locals Alex Hart, 65, and his wife Cheryl Hart, 61, were among protesters on the edge of London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pair are worried they could have to spend up to \u00a340,000 to replace their car.<\/p>\nMr. Hart said: \u201cI have never protested about anything until this. I have got a car which is a Volvo C30. It\u2019s diesel because I was told by my Government that diesel was the environmentally friendly thing to do. I now have to get rid of it.\u201d<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
