Lurid headlines about a \u2018deadly\u2019 heatwave in the U.S. last month\u00a0pinned the blame on climate change<\/a>\u00a0and claimed that the warmth was just getting started. \u2018Deadly US southwest heatwave will expand to cover much of America as warnings issued<\/a>,\u2019 cried\u00a0Sky News<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the data are out, and the alarmist headlines are once again looking ridiculous. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has updated its\u00a0U.S. Contiguous USCRN Average\u00a0Temperature Anomaly Data<\/a>\u00a0through July 2023, and as shown below, the month was unremarkable and continued a long period without a rising trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The measured data shows no supporting upward trends regarding U.S. 2023 average summer temperature anomalies to date. This reality flies in the face of the out-of-control media climate alarmist incompetent and idiotically hyped \u2018tipping point\u2019 climate change temperature propaganda this summer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Globally, July 2023 was an unusually warm month, no doubt \u2013 though claims of it being the \u2018hottest ever\u2019\u00a0suffer from a multitude of dubious assumptions<\/a>\u00a0and data adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Alabama\u2019s Dr. Roy Spencer\u00a0comments<\/a>\u00a0that the unusual warmth suggests \u201csomething peculiar is going on\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

It\u2019s too early for the developing\u00a0El Ni\u00f1o<\/em>\u00a0in the Pacific to have much effect on the tropospheric temperature record. The Hunga Tonga sub-surface ocean volcano eruption and its \u2018unprecedented\u2019 production of extra stratospheric water vapor could be to blame.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Daily Sceptic<\/em>\u2018s Chris Morrison\u00a0discussed<\/a>\u00a0last week the possible role of the huge 2022 Hunga Tonga eruption. Anthony Watts goes into\u00a0further detail about the eruption on his site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But whatever the cause of the anomalous July global warmth, it was not reflected in the average temperature of the United States, which was nothing out of the ordinary and continues to show no recent rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
