Only one news outlet,\u00a0<em>The Associated Press<\/em>, bothered to print a sensible caveat\u2026The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration distanced itself from the designation, compiled by the University of Maine\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/climatereanalyzer.org\/clim\/t2_daily\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Climate Reanalyzer<\/a>, which uses satellite data and computer simulations to measure the world\u2019s condition\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AP updated its story on July 7th to include this single yet very important paragraph: \u201c<em>NOAA, whose figures are considered the gold standard in climate data, said in a statement Thursday that it cannot validate the unofficial numbers. It noted that the reanalyzer uses model output data, which it called \u2018not suitable\u2019 as substitutes for actual temperatures and climate records. The agency monitors global temperatures and records on a monthly and an annual basis, not daily.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, in the space of two days, we went from temperature data that was \u201c[t]otally unprecedented and terrifying,\u201d to temperature data that was not suitable for purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatedepot.com\/2023\/08\/02\/supposed-record-temperature-in-china-not-all-it-seems\/\">\u2018Supposed\u2019 Record Temperature In China Not All It Seems<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Paul Homewood: \u201cThere is a highly coordinated effort taking place to persuade the public that the world\u2019s climate is somehow out of control, with extreme weather everywhere and heatwaves on every continent.\u201d \u2026 \u201cQuite clearly, any record temperature set in the Turpan is meaningless and cannot be compared to other locations in China. It is merely the product of a micro climate. There is also a second issue here. Those claims were based on climate models, which even the NOAA \u2013National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration \u2014 backed away from. They are weaponizing hot summers,\u00a0 heat waves to turn it into some kind of call for climate action.
