class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A Liberal Democrat councillor suggested that\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2023\/07\/21\/keir-starmer-isnt-ready-for-the-great-drivers-revolt\/\">anti-Ulez<\/a><em>\u00a0campaigners should be gassed with carbon monoxide in a social media post denounced as offensive.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Michael Tarling, a councillor for Christchurch, in Dorset, said on Twitter that he would \u201chappily fill the room with carbon monoxide\u201d in response to a photograph showing a church hall where a meeting against an\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/politics\/2023\/05\/21\/labour-ulez-britain-clean-air-zones-motorists\/\">ultra-low emission zone<\/a><em>\u00a0charge being introduced in Edinburgh was to be held.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mr Tarling, a chartered construction consultant who once appeared in pantomime, posted his reply on Friday morning.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Lib Dem leadership has decided not to suspend him, preferring\u00a0instead\u00a0to send him on an awareness training course.
