The proposed rules are the latest advancement in the Biden administration\u2019s wider push to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/29\/biden-epa-regulations-shut-down-coal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">regulate<\/a>\u00a0household appliances in pursuit of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2023\/04\/20\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-catalyze-global-climate-action-through-the-major-economies-forum-on-energy-and-climate\/#:~:text=Putting%20the%20Power%20Sector%20on%20a%20Path%20to%20Net%20Zero%20Emissions&amp;text=President%20Biden%20has%20set%20an,by%20no%20later%20than%202050.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">climate agenda<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation would mandate higher efficiency standards for new water heaters that use heat pumps, and would require new gas heat pumps to gain efficiency by using condensing technology, according to the DOE press release. Gas water heaters are smaller and less expensive, and thus carry cheaper installation costs than alternatives,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admin-cracks-down-another-popular-home-appliance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a>\u00a0to FOX News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s just spreading to more and more appliances. Other appliances that the Biden administration is planning to issue updated energy standards for include dishwashers, residential laundry machines, refrigerators and boilers,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reginfo.gov\/public\/do\/eAgendaMain?operation=OPERATION_GET_AGENCY_RULE_LIST&amp;currentPub=true&amp;agencyCode=&amp;showStage=active&amp;agencyCd=0000&amp;csrf_token=B0C754F275261990C675FE8E508E6493C3E8AC3774B7B28F1B17149DACCC33A2B27F3B2361F8D0435411B9A560CBFC41E044\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a>\u00a0to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biden administration has also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/02\/01\/gas-efficiency-law-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempted<\/a>\u00a0to regulate gas stoves, which led the Republican-controlled House to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/06\/13\/house-passes-bill-block-regulation-prohibit-federal-cpsc-gas-stove-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pass<\/a>\u00a0a bill in June that would bar any prospective federal ban on new gas stoves if it became law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DOE estimates that the new rule will save American consumers $198 billion in energy costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 501 million metric tons over 30 years, according to the press release.
